The Coffee Lesson

The Coffee Lesson

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor.

Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all his former students had a cup of coffee at hand, the professor said:

"If you have noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup. But, you consciously went for the best cups and were eyeing each other's cups."

"Now, consider this: Life is the coffee and the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life. But, they do not change the quality of Life. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided."

So, don't let the cups drive you...enjoy the coffee instead.

God is Good ALL THE TIME !!!!

A man from Norfolk , VA called a local radio station to share this
on Sept 11th, 2003 , TWO YEARS AFTER THE TRAGEDIES OF 9/11/2001.

His name was Robert Matthews. These are his words:

A few weeks before Sept. 11th, my wife and I found out we were going to have our first child. She planned a trip out to California to visit her sister. On our way to the airport, we prayed that God would grant my wife a safe trip and be with her. Shortly after I said 'amen,' we both heard a loud pop and the car shook violently. We had blown out a tire.

I replaced the tire as quickly as I could, but we still missed her Flight. Both very upset, we drove home. I received a call from my father who was retired NYFD. He asked
what my wife's flight number was, but I explained that we missed the flight.
